A TWYMAN CREATIVE INTERVIEW
WITH

Twyman Creative What is your name and the name of your company?
Eve Adams Eve Adams, ACM Records, Inc.
Twyman Creative Now that we know who you are, tell us personally about you.
Eve Adams
I am married with two small school aged children - ages 11 and 8. I am your regular mom and wife to my family and put much stock on the safety of my children when it comes to issues like the internet, telephone and tv. I believe you can't be too cautious and that although with so many tragedies in this country, parents still are not cautious enough. I'm not saying I'm perfect and I certainly can stand to learn from wiser folk but by and large I am quite hypersensitive to family issues overall. I work my tail off for my company which is owned by my partner/husband and myself for the last 20 or so years.
Twyman Creative
What do you do in the industry?
Eve Adams
I am the Chief Executive of Marketing as well as the Co-President, a Music Coordinator/Supervisor as well as Educator. I 'ear pick' each and every artist on our label/roster personally and make the music available in many forms in order to expose as well as to gain opportunities for our music in as many facets as possible.
Twyman Creative
Where can we see your work or what have you worked on?
Eve Adams
Miramax Release Pictures, Paid In Full, Universal Pictures, Brokeback Mountain, Earth Wind and Fire, Live in Rio, and many television shows to name a few..
Twyman Creative
How did you get started?
Eve Adams
I was always a musician as a child and quite creative at writing and went to school to fine tune and get the right credentials and knowledge in a very complicated field. As an artist many years later I produced and released my own record on my own label in 1980 which went to #4 on the dance charts in the UK which then led me to continue producing, performing and finally work at production with my present partner - I always had exposure to the entertainment field in Legal matters, contracts etc. and so it seemed like a natural segue to becoming a Publisher and Record Label Owner. As a Music Supervisor/Music Coordinator you become quite good at understanding what other folks hear and your antenna just goes into automatic mode...but after many years and much exposure.
Twyman Creative Was it hard?
Eve Adams
VERY-the rejection level in this business is unbelievable and people just don't have time to 'stop and chat'..so you have to keep persevering and realize that folks aren't intentionally trying to be creeps it just seems to go with territory..but not everyone is like that..it depends on them and the situation.
Twyman Creative What motivates you?
Eve Adams My children's school bills!! No really. It's really a labor of love.
Twyman Creative What is your main goal?
Eve Adams To expose the true artists who are in it for the long haul and hope they really make an honorable difference in this business, to earn a living, maybe one day sail the ocean, (hopefully free of Tsunamis), I would like artists in the business to understand that if they say things that are worth something - that people will relate and pay attention. They also should try and intern at as many places to gain real experience to help them in their own careers. To leave a positive impression on everyone I meet and to help the world with a true message of love!!! It seems there just are a lot of angry people in this business and in the world around us.
Twyman Creative
What do you recommend for people getting in the industry?
Eve Adams
Work hard, don't give up and don't quit your day gig!
Twyman Creative Why do you believe people fail in this industry?
Eve Adams Because they may get jarred too easily, pissed off at the wrong people or just don't give it 100% even when the going gets tough! They don't arm themselves with knowledge-very important. They aren't consistent or flexible enough. They must not be unreliable either.
Twyman Creative
Can you think of an actual example where someone failed?
Eve Adams
Yes, but without mentioning names the artist failed to show up at an audition for a very important feature, he was selected as the lead artist and because of his continued lack of true professionalism he was excluded as the lead and was lucky to still get a couple of seconds in the picture.
Twyman Creative
Can you tell us your professional pet peeve? What do industry people do that just ticks you off?
Eve Adams
Not pay their bills on time or use something without permission. SPAM. People who never return calls..that's got to be my biggest peeve. People that stroke their own egos...
Twyman Creative
Now, feel free to drop Mad Knowledge on people, anything you think they should know about this business.
Eve Adams
Don't use samples or loops, be original and say something important - be sensitive to the world current issues and speak about them in your music, don't have a crappy attitude when considering contracts and think the world owes you a living...NO ONE OWES YOU ANYTHING!!! Be flexible about agreements because 0% of 100% is still 0%!!
Twyman Creative
